In recognition of his significant contribution to the field of clinical epidemiology: by bridging the schism between public health and clinical medicine; by promoting scientific design, measurement and evaluation in research, by generating and applying evidence-based knowledge in the clinical care of the patient; by studying the relative value of risks factors in cardiovascular diseases and utilizing these information to develop rational algorithms for the carer of said diseases. For correcting the imbalance in the production of generalist-internist vis-à-vis subspecialist-internist by establishing the first section of General Internal Medicine in the Department of Medicine, UP-PGH, Medical Center.For organizing the Cardiovascular Research Group to promote a coordinated multi-institutional effort in research.
