Dr. Quintin L. Kintanar is recognized for his significant contributions to advancing knowledge in pharmacology and environmental science. Among his contributions are the following: (1) pharmacological studies of Philippine medicinal plants; (2) biochemical mechanisms of fat and lipoprotein metabolism especially on how lipoproteins in blood are packaged in the liver; (3) liver drug metabolism; (4) the safety and effectiveness of coconut water as an intravenous fluid; (5) conducted a review of the published literature that disproved the claim that coconut oil is cholesterogenic; (6) toxicological study on carageenan proving its safety for human consumption.
