For his significant contribution to the development and application of intelligent systems using robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), and industrial automation in the country. He is part of the next generation of pure engineering researchers as an early pioneer in artificial neural networks (ANN) and fuzzy logic systems even before its popularity where he worked on disaster response and smart agriculture applications to address national issues. He also co-founded the International Conference on Humanoid, Nanotechnology, Information Technology, Communication and Control, Environment and Management (HNICEM) IEEE conference series, that accounts for 2% of the Philippines' Scopus publications across all disciplines, providing an opportunity for Filipino researchers' visibility in the international scientific community.
