Dr. Benito M. Pacheco has significant research in engineering sciences and technology and disaster risk management. He has contributed to academia, the engineering profession, and construction industry, through basic research, laboratory research, applied research, action research, education research, and research on policy and legislation. He has maintained multi-disciplinal, multi-sectoral, national, and international collaborations in research on issues ranging from structural vibration control to multi-hazard disaster risk management. He played an important role in the formulation of the legislative proposal for a new Philippine Building Act, which reforms the legal framework as well as sets the stage for the periodic updating of administrative rules and regulations and technical reference standards for buildings in the Philippines.
